274 2024-12-01 09:34 admin

Maureen

1. (i've read your ps, know your background.....)

I want to share my story with u ......

I spend 5 years to finish my undergraduate learning, this because my first major is tournism management and the concentration is exhibition management. But when I realize the the poor patent protection situation Chinese companies faced, I decide to change my major to Law even though I have to repeat another freshman year. What’s the lucky thing is I pass the exam and change my major successfully, but the unfortunate thing is the Sun Yat-sen Law school didn’t provide students a chance to formalize their concentration. So I’ve been looking for an opportunity to study my concentration (IP) systematically. And this idea becomes stronger when I begin my full-time job, as an In-House counsel. Because in the two internship experiences, no matter the Legal Aid nor the paralegal, the main work is non-litigation practice. However, when I take this full-time job, to be a In-house Council, I have met 3 litigations in 9 month. We lose one. Reach a settlement in another one. And the last one has not yet been in session because the epidemic. So I realize that it’s necessary to apply for LLM. My superior, the In-house Lawyer told me that LLM allows me to increase my knowledge and be specialized in a legal field. More important thing is, I believe that studying in an outstanding law school just like BLS, learning from would-class faculty is a journey which could benefit me for a life time.

So, that's my story!

2.第二个问题:proudest thing you made in undergraduate

I start my own business with some schoolmate whose major is computer science. We establish a website where people could share their account and receive payment from others.

Let me give you some examples. There is a new TV play you like on netfilx or apple tv but it requires a VIP account. So you could borrow a Vip account on our website for just a weekend but just pay very little money to the account holder. And our website would take 10 percent of this transaction amount as our commission.

3.第三个问题 how about share something about your internship

In november last year, I help my company reach a settlement with the plaintiff which help both side maintain the relationship with others and avoid 30,000 dollar lost. In this case, I realized that to be the winner in a court is not the only way nor the best way to defend the interest of a company. Mostly, the business style would prefer another way to resolve disputes which is more flexible. Back to that case, this plaintiff and another defendant, both of them are our client, as you know, we are a OEM company, we produced goods for other company and stick their brand to these goods. The plaintiff give us a order to produce a kind of shampoo with their bottle and our inner material. This shampoo are sold very well in the market. So another defendant come to find my company and give the order to produce the same product but with different brand. However, the plaintiff has the appearance patent of the bottle, so we become the accomplice of the copycat. Actually, we don’t have advantages if we go to the court but we hold the formula of the inner material. You know, you cannot sell only the bottle to market, you need the inner material. So I suggest my boss to pay a visit to the plaintiff with another defendant actually they know each other in business. They Appologize to the plaintiff, my company release a part of the formula to the plaintiff, another defendant promise never sell or produce the same product and pay some guarantee deposit to the plaintiff. No need contract just some shaking-hands between the boss and job is done. The two companies are still giving order to us. I found it’s good to think like a lawyer but sometimes it’s better to think like a businessman.

Maureen

Why Bu

Boston is a charming and Energetic city with long history. There are beautiful snowing winter and world-class attraction waiting for me. And the location of BLS puts me only minutes away from work opportunities of the Law Firm, Big company and government office. I believe I could enjoy both dynamic city life and a peaceful residential environment there.

Besides, I really appreciate the sologan on your website “Learning outside the classroom”. This is not common in Chinese University. LOTC indicates the school totally has confident in their student. And be willing to offer a rigorous and free atmosphere for student to live and study. You have 35+ student organization including a softball organization even though I never play this sport in China before and 6 journals run by the student. I always believe that first you should be free to do anything and then you could achieve anything. It happens now in BLS.

我:that's fantastic.

1. what's the rate of the vaccine in Boston University.(没问)

2. Do you offer student the campus housing or any kind of housing

这个直接把Maureen干笑了,她答:“you won't like living in dormitory, there are plenty of undergraduate American students, they drunk, hold parties ......”

3. Could u provide more info about how LLM student transfer to JD (没问)

4. I know u graduate from Law school, what’s your first job after graduating from school and is there any suggestion for other graduator to be a jobseeker.

5. what preparation you advise me to do before school starts / reading some books / what channel I should subscribe ?

English English And English

6. can I take the bar exam if I apply for the IP program?

No,and the progra you applied is American Law ......

7. when can I GET the final decision ?

8. Do you have any orientation before Sep. and what i can learn from this.(没问)

the final depends on the whole admission, but you got my vote.
